3D CAD model of Serpent 710 4WD RC car

As a development engineer at a chip assembly plant in The Netherlands I did have the opportunity to learn to work with Autodesk Inventor (from the creators of AutoCAD). While AutoCAD is mainly a 2D design tool for creating mechanical drawings Inventor opens the possibilities to engineer directly in a 3D environment.

With this software I've kind of reverse engineered my radio controlled model car, the Serpent 710 4WD 200mm gas powered car, into a realistic 3D cad model. Every part of the car was measured and put into Inventor. Finally an assembly was made were all parts are put together making the car to (virtually) work.

With Inventor version 10 it is possible to render the model in photo realistic images and 3D animations.

On this website you can see the results. For comments or suggestions (or just to let me know what you think of it) please use the Guestbook on this site.

Hope you enjoy it.
