![]() Everybody knows that the Mini was launched in 1959. How many people do know that 1959 was the year in which John Cooper's Formula One Racing Team achieved a remarkable world championship constructor's victory. This victory was repeated the following year.
To celebrate this tremendous achievement and coincide with the Mini's 35th birthday, John Cooper Garages developed the Cooper Grand Prix. Of this John Cooper Limited Edition only 35 were produced by John Cooper Garage technicians.
For these John Cooper Grand Prix', 4 exterior colours and 9 colours of leather were available. Most of the Grand Prix' are produced as right hand drive, only 2 of them are left hand drives.
This special LE is based on a Mini Cooper 1.3i, and features a number of performance modifications using new components and drawing on pastracing experience.
The original Mini Cooper Grand Prix brochure was a special issue of MiniWorld. The advert for this ultimate Limited edition Mini was on many covers of MiniWorld.
