Hårkan (Sweden)On this page you will find an impression of our canoe trip from Innerdals ån (Jule Norway) over lake Hotagen and the Hårkan to Lit (Sweden). The tour of about 140 km took us a fortnight, including three resting days. This was our first trip with two canoes for one family. We made the trip in July 2003 and the kids were aged 3, 8 & 10.Jämtland has about 100,000
reindeers; 30,000 elks; 1,000 beavers; 300 brown bears.
But nobody has been killed by a brown bear since 1903..... This overview presents mainly pictures of the lakes.
The last part, over the river Hårkan, is also very much
worth canoeing. Due to an empty battery we weren't able
to take pictures on this part of the journey.

| Just
jump in the river. Below surface about 26 degrees Celsius, above 31. |

| Lake Rengen, sun ahead, a small breeze against and a lake nearly for your self. |

| The small breeze got a bit more tight. In order to maintain speed we attached the canoes sideways. |

| The first obstacle in our trip. "Rengen fallet" near Valsjöbyn. 12 meter difference between two lakes. This mend all luggage out of the canoes and dragging them on their carriers over a small fisherman's track studded with lots of stones and roots. |

| Enjoying the refill of lake system. Fortunately we had the wind blowing in the back. |

| A short time later the sun has come out to shine. In combination with a gentle breeze all the rainwear dried in a minute. |

| At the end of the Hotagen is a group of islands. We picked one to put up our camp for the night. |
