Les trois graces
Oil on canvas, 119 x 120 cm
Signed lower right: E Bernard 1906
After the Pont-Aven episode the painter has some disadvantage with the leader Gauguin and left the "Cloisinisme". He is now influenced by the classic italian painters, after a stay of about ten years in Egypt he started again with classic subjects. The presented painting is a nice example of this revival where the palet becomes brighter then before and the composition showed again a classical background.
