Jean Brusselmans, Brussel,1884 - Dilbeek,1953

Young woman arranging flowers
Doek 98 x 80 cm.
Signed left bottom Jean Brusselmans
Painted about 1914

His most important work is between 1910 and 1920, inwhich time het was following the impressionistic-fauvistisc-brabancon style before he was starting his expressionistic period that lasted till the end of his career. He was more interrested in the compostion of the regular form then in the world ariound him. His painting was more a composition of regular frms. Our painting demonstrates this opinion. The broad brushstrokes and the blueish color of the painting is from the period that he was attached to the group of "Les Blues".
