The colors of the flower combination are more translucent and mingle with the background in a poetic way. Pupil of Gustave Moreau together with his friend Marquet. Frequent contacts with Cezanne.
One of the first painters who was involved with the "Fauve" movement starting in 1905. Later he was strongly influenced by Renoir. His work has always a steady high standard.
