Theo van Rysselberghe, Gent, 1862 - 1926, Saint-Clair (Var)

Mrs. Edmond Cross
Oil on canvas, 81 x 65 cm.
Signed with monogram left middle: vR 07 avril
Picture painted in the divisionictic period from the painter shortly after he left the pointilistic style of painting. Theo van Rysselberghe stays at that time in Paris and is very close with his friend Edmond Cross. He is in that period also influenced by Maurice Denis, who started with Gauguin the Nabis-style.
The offered painting is a nice example of the post-impressionistic art of the painter.
