Louis Valtat, Dieppe,1869 - Choisel,1952
Two strolling ladies
Oil on board 32 x 14 cm.
Painted about 1925
One of the first painters who already in 1895 used contrasting colorplanes , the same technique that later in 1905 was introduced by the fauve. This painting is a nice example of the colorplanes that he used in portraying modain ladys in the beginning of the twentieth century.
