Our first Irish Setter was a bitch from the Lowfield Kennel from Mr Piet Jacobs in Belgium. Lowfield Violet, known as Ella, made her entrance by us in January 1973. We visited a number of shows with her, such as the Kynologen Club Friesland club match where she won BEST IN SHOW. A little later in the Club World she became best of the day at the Club Day in Hooger Smilde. Our first litter was from Ella out of Cannwinn Astormy Rebel; 7 puppies that all reached the age of 12 jaar or older. One dog, Vestor, remained with us. By various circumstances Nicky, Ballywestow Nyinsky, an English import dog bred by Mrs Judith Russel, became our new family member. Ten years after our first Irish Setter put down her roots, the Ballyshannon’s Kennel was set up with Hieke of the Hillema Garden as the pedigree bitch. |
